Meet the new mascots of the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics — hats. The Paris Organizing Committee for the Games (巴黎奥组委)recently unveiled (推出)the Phrygian Cap, also known as the Liberty Cap. Now despite the mascot's whimsical look, there's a deeper meaning. The hats were a symbol of the pursuit of liberty in the American and French Revolutions, and the choice to use it for the Games may be an effort to link modern France with the ancient world.

The brand director for Paris 2024 says the Phrygian Cap is a symbol familiar to generations of French people. But it goes far beyond that. It’s everywhere from schools to town halls, even on stamps. It’s part of the society. Organizers said they didn't want to choose an animal or other creatures, but something that encompassed an ideal.
